"Hollow tree"

I often wonder if the words I utter are taken for grantedÂ
Or if my silence is construed as a weaknessÂ
The words dared to be saidÂ
Only articulated by the penÂ
Within my palm
The verbiage I lock awayÂ
Is my armor
As words are my infantry
It's as though
I am the hollow treeÂ
Allowing the woodpeckerÂ
To establish its territoryÂ
In my homeÂ
YetÂ
With the sway of a branchÂ
There is a shift in command
Does my silence disrupt your scream?
Do my eyes say more than the heat of your breath?
Does my smile distract your thoughts?
I often wonder if the words I utter are taken for granted
Or if my silence is construed as a weaknessÂ
Because fish did not discover waterÂ
