"Hollow tree"

I often wonder if the words I utter are taken for granted
Or if my silence is construed as a weakness
The words dared to be said
Only articulated by the pen
Within my palm
The verbiage I lock away
Is my armor
As words are my infantry
It's as though
I am the hollow tree
Allowing the woodpecker
To establish its territory
In my home
Yet
With the sway of a branch
There is a shift in command
Does my silence disrupt your scream?
Do my eyes say more than the heat of your breath?
Does my smile distract your thoughts?
I often wonder if the words I utter are taken for granted
Or if my silence is construed as a weakness
Because fish did not discover water
